Mimi is the official Hindi remake of the Marathi movie Mala Aai Vhaychay (2011) which deals with international surrogacy.
Mimi directed by Laxman Utekar who made his directorial debut with Luka Chuppi (2019) , The film was written, produced and directed by Samruddhi Porey, who also played a supporting actress in the movie.

In January 2019, the 2020 calendar of films produced by Maddock Films was unveiled as a video by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on his social media handle, which showed that the film will release in July 2020. But Due to Pandemic,the release Date has Postponed.
Marathi film actress Sai Tamhankar will be also seen in the upcoming film Mimi (2020).
Tamhankar made the announcement by sharing a picture with Sanon on her Instagram page.
Tamhankar has previously starred in Hindi films like Black & White (2008), Ghajini (2008), Hunterr (2015), City Of Gold (2010) and Love Sonia (2018).
